Why we exist
Admittedly, I'm not much of a record collector myself. I started building configurable products online back in 2014 – initially for precision machined parts and industrial components, later for clients like ThyssenKrupp and one of Europe's leading universities. Anyone with a background in mechanical engineering knows the difference between good enough and truly good. That applies to a machined part just as much as to a vinyl record – which is, when you think about it, also a precision component that spins.
When an acquaintance who has been selling vinyl for years pointed me toward this market, my first reaction was: why does it still take weeks everywhere? My second: I can build this better. Better, for me, means above all: intuitive. A configurator that doesn't feel like work, but like a process that simply flows – that's the part I genuinely enjoy.
Record Express grew out of that combination – my technical background, my business partner's online marketing expertise, and someone who has known this market from the inside for years. The result: 3 day production, a configurator that leaves no questions open, and a record that feels exactly the way it sounds.
I spend most of my day on digitalisation, automation and IT. Which is exactly why I appreciate products that last – things you can hold in your hands, that feel substantial, and that bring people genuine, lasting joy. When it comes to the finished record, I find myself a little nostalgic too.
